Key details from the report

Both children were training as goalkeepers, following in their father’s footsteps.
Development and playing opportunities are cited as the direct reasons for their departure.
GOAL’s report draws on information from AS, via Mundo Deportivo.

Why were the boys withdrawn?

The main reason cited in the report is the older boy’s loss of standing within his age group and reported setbacks in his development. According to the account attributed to AS, that decline also led to him missing out on a national-team call-up. Casillas reportedly decided to withdraw both sons after concluding that they were not getting enough playing opportunities.

The key distinction is between the reported footballing reasons for the departure and commentary about Casillas’s relationship with the club’s management. The children’s development and opportunities to play are presented as the direct reasons for the decision; the influence of tensions with management is discussed only as a possibility.

What changes for the two young goalkeepers’ training?

The departure brings the brothers’ training at La Fabrica to an end. According to GOAL, they are expected to continue their football development away from Real Madrid. Their next priority will be to find an academy that can support their progress and offer regular playing time.

Tensions with management form the backdrop

GOAL also reports that relations between Casillas and Real Madrid’s management have been strained for the past decade. In that context, the report cites the renewed attention to the former goalkeeper’s past disputes with Jose Mourinho in a Netflix documentary, as well as his public criticism of the first team’s defence.

The same report says Casillas openly backed Enrique Riquelme rather than Florentino Perez in the club’s summer elections. It suggests that this may have widened the distance between him and the current management and could have played a part in the decision to withdraw his children. That assessment, however, is commentary separate from the footballing reasons; it is not presented as the definitive cause of their departure.
